So you want to get away from it all and experience adventure and relaxation in the same vacation? It’s not such a tall order if the holiday you are considering is a scuba diving vacation. The beauty of a scuba diving vacation is that you get the thrill of swimming in serene yet life filled waters alongside vivid and exotic marine life. When you combine this with the excitement of exploring unknown dive sites far below the water’s surface, you have a scuba diving vacation that you will remember for the rest of your life.

The popularity of this sport has grown so much in recent years that it is simple to locate dive classes, gear and scuba diving vacations in any corner of the world. Even land locked locales will usually offer certification classes in local pools.

What to Know Before You Take a Scuba Diving Vacation

Before you take the plunge and jump in feet first to a scuba diving vacation there are facts you should consider. First of all, a scuba diving vacation requires that you be in good physical shape. This is the most important factor and your fitness will be confirmed on site. You will also be required to complete a questionnaire attesting to your great health. Heart conditions, diabetes and obesity could all cause serious complications below water under stressful conditions. A scuba diving instructor must accompany all those that are not certified divers for their protection and well being.

Another factor is age. Most places will not allow diving for those who are under 10 years of age; for those who are between 10-15 years of age there are junior scuba diving initiation and for those 15 and above can join the adult groups. There is no set maximum age however, that vastly depends on your physical condition. Last but not least is the required equipment, which is usually a must especially if you are beginner in the scuba diving sport. However, I suggest you wear the gear even if you are professional for your protection and that of the environment. This is one sport that simply won’t work without the right gear.

What To Expect From Your Scuba Diving Vacation

Your scuba diving vacation should provide you with comfortable accommodations, numerous dive site options, the opportunity to rent equipment as needed and access to certified divers to assist you along the way. Your scuba diving vacation should be a combination of awe-inspiring nature and adrenalin pumping excitement. Finally, opportunities should exist for you to see new sites and explore unknown vistas with every dive on your scuba diving vacation.
